Alliance Fund gives $30,000 to eleven projects in Southern Arizona, click here to learn more about the funded organizations.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Straight (LGBT&S) Alliance Fund is a special project of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA), created in 1999 in partnership with the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership. The Alliance Fund addresses the chronic pattern of underfunding of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender programs and supports efforts to address these issues through philanthropy and endowment building.

The Alliance Fund connects donors with the LGBT community. The Fund has become known for making grants available at critical times during the development of an organization's infrastructure. Since its inception, the Fund has awarded 90 grants totaling over $405,000 to local nonprofits.

Awards have supported such diverse programs as:

  • Ethica's production of an LGBT adoption manual, available here
  • The theatrical productions “Falsettoland” and “The Wrestling Season”
  • Bisbee Pride Celebration
  • The annual Sex and Scholarship Symposium organized by the University of Arizona's Committee on Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Studies
